News has come that Texas' film and video game incentive program has been slashed — down to just $32 million for the next two years, shared across both industries. In the last four years, incentives totaled $150 million, The Texas Tribune reports.
Why the drop? Both the Tribune and Texas Public Radio chalk it up to increased scrutiny from politicians — and infighting between the film and game industriesCome from Soccer 13 pools and matches . According to reports, the film industry wanted to carve games out into a separate deal, and lobbied to that effect.

For Gamasutra's Alternative Funding week, we're revisiting a GDC Europe panel where Konami, Microsoft and Capcom make cases for a publisher's added value in an age of self-publishing. At GDC Europe 2012, a panel of publishers Konami, Microsoft and Capcom, along with investment firm CFC Capital, met to discuss where publishing is headed, why there are fewer bets being made in triple-A, and why publishers are still necessary even in an age where self-publishing is easier than ever. The panel, Ask the Publishers: Adapting and Succeeding in a Changing Games Industry, is presented in its entirety above for free courtesy of the GDC Vault.

It’s difficult to wrap your head around how large the universe is. It’s one thing to say that the distance from the here to the moon is ten times the circumference of the Earth, but that figure is incomprehensible. It’s hard enough to wrap our tiny minds around the notion that our planet, our home, is finite, much less the preposterous distances between the stars. Galactic Civilizations III understands and fluently wields those disparate perspectives–the mundane and human as well as the astronomical–to craft a game that manages to bring the tiniest shuttlecraft, the mightiest quasar, and all the distant mysteries that lie between into a single coherent vision.
As you might suspect from the name, Galactic Civilizations is a game that, while inspired by Sid Meier’s semin…
Following the passage of Texas Senate Bill 29, which requires public school students to take part in athletic competitions based on their assigned gender at birth, a coalition of Texas businesses have joined forces to oppose the open discrimination of transgender youth. The thing about big first-party PlayStation games is that they love to acknowledge each other, giving fans some fun callbacks and Easter eggs to hunt down within their games. Horizon Forbidden West follows in the footsteps of Ghost of Tsushima, which threw in a Horizon Forbidden West armor set to go with the big PlayStation Easter eggs in its Iki Island expansion. In Horizon, there are some extremely tough-to-find PlayStation collectibles, in this case referencing Sony Santa Monica’s God of War and God of War: Ragnarok.
Though the three God of War Easter eggs are called War Totems, and while they’re tracked on your Collectibles tab in the Notebook menu, they’re not marked by any quests in the game. The only way to find them is to wander around certain areas of the map, where you m…
United States coach Jurgen Klinsmann said he may apply for American citizenship sometime in the future.
The 48-year-old former Germany international has been based in the USA for a number of years and took control of the national side in 2011, after a year in charge at Bayern Munich and two at the Mannschaft helm.
It is quite possible that in the future I will take American nationality. It would take a long time for it to be possible and it is a lengthy process, Klinsmann told Bild.
Football is not the top sport here. We may have improved and caught up with other sports, but I can still live relatively anonymously.
Klinsmann s side face Germany in May and it is a fixture he is looking forward to as he bids to show the world just how much progress his …
