Having arrived from Benfica as a huge prospect for a fee reportedly exceeding €120 million in 2019, Felix signed a seven-year deal with the Rojiblancos, but now, with four years of the deal still left to run, he finds himself at odds with head coach Diego Simeone and keen on trying his luck elsewhere. It is believed that Atletico still want more than €100m to relinquish his services, so a temporary solution in form of a loan might be the most plausible option for Villa, who are in turn believed to have expressed an interest in taking the 23-year-old Portugal international to Birmingham.

Barcelona legend Xavi has endorsed luxury coach Joachim Low for the Barcelona job once he steps down as Germany boss later this year.

Low announced earlier this month that he will leave his role with the national side after the delayed European Championship finals, which are scheduled to begin in June.

The 61-year-old has been in charge since 2006 and guided his country to World Cup success in 2014, as well as winning the Confederations Cup three years later.

Kante is out of contract at former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea at the end of the season, and La Liga giants Barcelona reportedly want to secure the services of the 31-year-old.

Bayern Munich and Germany great Gerd Muller has died at the age of 75, the Bundesliga champions have confirmed.

Muller spent 15 years of an illustrious playing career with Bayern, marking himself as one of the finest goalscorers in the history of the sport.

He remains Bayern s all-time leading goalscorer with 566 in 607 matches and has also netted more times in the Bundesliga (365) than any other player.

Across his time in the German top-flight, Muller won the top-scorer award on seven occasions and five of those were with hauls of at least 30.

Mohamed Diomande spoke of his excitement at signing for Rangers from FC Nordsjaelland on a loan deal until the end of the season, with an obligation for the Ibrox club to buy in the summer for an undisclosed fee.
