This Console Generation Has Been Disappointing

We’re in the fourth year of the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S’ lifecycles, but even at this point, more than halfway through the current console generation, it barely feels like the new hardware has gained any momentum. Usually, by this point, console generations are hitting their absolute peak years, especially where the output of games is concerned. You look at the fourth year of the PS4, for instance, which was packed to the brim with stellar games that were making the console an irresistible purchase for anyone who didn’t already have one. There was Horizon Zero Dawn, Nioh, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Gran Turismo Sport, NieR: Automata, Yakuza 0, Resident Evil 7, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, The Ev…

Baldur’s Gate 3 Crosses 1 Million Mod Installs Less Than 24 Hours After Patch 7’s Release

The long-awaited Patch 7 finally went live for Baldur’s Gate 3 last week, bringing new evil endings and cinematics, a revamped split-screen experience, and mod support to PC. The latter has been quite popular – studio founder and game director Swen Vincke revealed that over one million mods were installed less than 24 hours after the patch released.

Unfortunately, those on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and Mac must wait until next month for the patch to drop since Larian must fulfill “the necessary technical checks and requirements.” Expect a more definitive sports bettingrelease date in the coming weeks.

As for the future, Patch 7 isn’t the end of support for the…

Koei Tecmo Says it Intends to Refocus on AAA Development and Grow From 2,500 Employees to 5,000

Koei Tecmo, the company behind the likes of Rise of the Ronin, Nioh, and the Dynasty Warriors series (among others), says it intends to double down on the AAA consolSports Bettinge and PC market going forward.

Reported by Automaton Media, during the company’s recent Q&A briefing with investors, it was confirmed that Koei Tecmo “expects the console and PC game market to grow” thanks to new hardware releases (something that it did not elaborate on), while on the mobile front, the company isn’t expecting any “significant growth”.

As such, Koei Tecmo intends to “steadily produce AAA titles” and says it will prioritize “yearly releases o…

Vazquez close to Premier League move

Palermo forward Franco Vazquez could be on his way to the Premier League this off-season, according to club vice president Guglielmo Micciche.

Vazquez joined Palermo in 2012 from Argentine outfit Belgrano, where he graduated from their youth academy.

The 27-year-old who was born and raised in Argentina has since gone on to make his international debut for Italy, while making over 100 appearances for Palermo.

But now it appears he is close to a Premier League switch, with West Brom among those interested in the Italian.

Our sporting director, [Rino] Foschi informed us that he s in talks with some English clubs regarding Franco Vazquez,  Micciche revealed.

I think West Bromwich Albion are among those. The discussions are moving forward.

Kuyt to make Feyenoord return

Dirk Kuyt is to return to Feyenoord next season after the Fenerbahce forward agreed a one-year deal at De Kuip.

The former Netherlands international spent three years with Feyenoord before departing for Liverpool in August 2006.

Kuyt became a big fans favourite at Anfield for his workmanlike performances and won the League Cup in 2011, as well as earning runners-up medals in the UEFA Champions League and FA Cup.

A move to Fener followed ahead of the 2012-13 season and Kuyt has claimed the Turkish Super Lig and Turkish Cup during his time at the club.

He will now return to the Eredivisie and Kuyt is keen to help bring success to Feyenoord.

It s really nice to be closing nine years abroad, he told Feyenoord s official website.

Mane was close to signing for Manchester United

On Saturday night, Sadio Mane will be in Madrid, starting in his second consecutive Champions League final. In 2018, it was the night in Kiev that was supposed to be glorious, but Real Madrid got in the way of their path to the trophy. Now, Liverpool will meet Tottenham and Sadio Mane will want to become European champion at last.

But funnily enough, the Senegalese star almost signed for Man United instead of Liverpool back in 2016.

“I was really, really close because I even met up with them,” he told the Mirror. “So I was coming, I was there and I spoke with the boss who was there before (Louis van Gaal). They made an offer, but in the same week, [Jurgen] Klopp called me.

“He said: ‘I think it’s the right club. The right coach for you, an…

Sustained Work Creates Platform for Excellence

A 2-0 victory against Kosovo in Reykyavik which saw Iceland finish the 2018 World Cup qualifying top of their group was a definite confirmation of this tiny nation’s continued football success.

Until recently considered Europe’s outsiders, Iceland national team is heading to Russia to put fear of God into their rivals with a spine-tingling Viking clap. And we could not be happier for them.

Symbolic Start

It’s somewhat symbolic to see Iceland pip Croatia to the first place in 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying Group I.

Icelandic football team has not enjoyed notable success until the 21st century and it was exactly in the previous World Cup qualifiers – for the 2014 edition in Brazil – that the football world first took notice of Vikings.

Guardiola questions purpose of managers after chaotic pre-season

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says he has questioned the purpose of managers after a pre-season spent largely without his first-team players with the new Premier League campaign less than a fortnight away.

City defeated Blackpool 4-1 on Tuesday, following up comfortable wins over Barnsley and Preston North End in pre-season ahead of their season opener against Tottenham on August 15.

Despite their good form, City have been without a host of players who have had breaks after their Euro 2020 and Copa America commitments including Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, Ederson, Gabriel Jesus, John Stones, Kyle Walker, Aymeric Laporte and Ferran Torres.

Now is a completely different world for all the managers, so we don t have time, Guardiola said after the game. Sometim…

Fernandes scores stunning free-kick as Man Utd thrash Benitez´s Everton

Bruno Fernandes sublime free-kick was the highlight of Manchester United s rout against Everton, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer s side rounded off their pre-season with a 4-0 victory.

Fernandes curled in a sensational effort from 25 yards out to put United three ahead in the 29th minute of Saturday s friendly at Old Trafford.

A large crowd was treated to a superb first-half display from United, albeit Rafael Benitez evidently has work to do heading into his first season as Everton boss.

Jordan Pickford, making his first appearance of pre-season after helping England to the Euro 2020 final, was partly at fault for United s eighth-minute opener – Lucas Digne s header catching Everton s goalkeeper cold, with Mason Greenwood on hand to pick up the scraps.

Pickford…
